Apply a mass?

Hi,

I´m a fresh beginner in Hyperworks. I want to simulate a bumper with its crashbox. I´ve only modelled the bumper and the crashboxes, without the full car behind it. But I need to define the mass of the car behind the crashboxes. But I don´t know how to do...

What`s the best way to create the mass of the car in Hypermesh/Radioss? Respectively, can I create the mass of a rigid body? How?

Thank you for any helpfull answers ;-)

    Hi,

please tell us, which solver you want to use...

Mass is a normal element. you can create it at 1D->mass. Then you have to define a good connection to your model, maybe by a rigid element (RBE2 (Nastran, Radioss Bulk); *contrained_nodel_rigid_body (LSDyna) or interpolated element (RBE3 (Nastran, Radioss Bulk), *constrained_interpolation (LSDyna)).

    Regards,

    Mario

    Hi,

I`m using Radioss Block 110. I have created in 1D-->rigids a node what is connected to the last nodes of the crashbox.

I tried to create a mass with Connectors->Create->Mass Distributions. There is no error, but the results show that the solver didn´t take account of the mass.

    Hi,

normally you connect all the nodes at the end of the box (sounds you have done it) and set one mass element at the centre of the rigid (1D->mass).

Check the connections (equivalence) and initial velocity (including mass element). Check the units (mass = ?, kg, t...)
