Securing Mesh Connectivity between two Components

Hi,

I am fairly new into hypermesh, and I am facing some problems with securing node connectivity between two parts of my model. I am trying to model a buried structure that is surrounded by tunnels, and I am trying to secure that the mesh of the buried structure connects with the mesh of the surrounding soil media. I have tried the topology option by defining the shared surfaces as shown below. However, this does not seem to work when I perform the meshing (also shown below).

Given the geometric complexity of the system, I am performing 2D auto mesh of the surfaces and using that for performing tetra meshing. I do this process for the exterior and surrounding soil and then repeat the process for the buried structure. However, When I 2D mesh of the structure, I can visually realize that connectivity is not obeyed. I was wondering if there is an efficient way to achieve node connectivity for this system by also taking into account the geometric challenges it has.

Thank you so much for all your help in advanced!

After you do the 2d automesh on the faces you should be able to tetramesh both 'parts' simultaneously and they should match each other and the 2d mesh, if you want to do it in 2 stages... then either you will need to set the shared faces as 'fixed' in the tetra mesh options for both tetra meshes, or mesh one part then take the faces of it and use that as fixed face mesh on second tetra mesh
