Unable to select local coordinate system for reading data from node path
Greetings,
I'm trying to read data from a node path that I've selected, using the way shown here http://www.altairhyperworks.com/pdfs/tips/1068.pdf
I can see the 'resolved in' option but I'm unable to change it to my cylindrical local coordinate system. Modeled in hypermesh and solved in abaqus, in Hypermesh I assigned my local csys to all nodes, still no luck.
I'll be grateful if someone can help me with this.

do you see your systems inside the browser (folder systems)?
But anyway, you have to create your contour plot resolved in your system. Select in 'Resolved in:' -> 'User System' and pick your sytem on screen.
Then create your contour plot (e.g. displacement y, of course mag don't work).
Now create your node path.
The 'Resolved in:' at the measure panel works e.g. for 'distance between'. But you have to see and pick your systems here too. Otherwise the sytems are not correct defined.
Try to create your own at 'Model->Create->System'. You have to leave and reenter the panel after creation (e.g. contour plot) to see the option to choose user systems.

Thank you for your response, it was very helpful. I am now able to create a local csys in Hyperview and as you said, in the measure panel, I am able to obtain data resolved in my local csys.
Though, I still have one question. If I am to create local csystems in Hyperview, should I really bother creating and assigning them in Hypermesh when modeling?
Note: No, I don't see my system in the browser, which is very odd. I'd like to know why because there is clearly something wrong with it.

if i'm creating systems inside Hypermesh, then i can see and use them in Hyperview. (i'm using Optistruct preference).
It is better to define the systems in Hypermesh, because then i have them always if i'm reading the *.fem or *.h3d file in Hyperview.
I don't attach nodes to systems, since then the analyses system is the local system. I can transform my results later inside Hyperview.

i have question similar to bilgilid, but i think more basic. Please excuse if question sounds too trivial.
I placed a new local CSYS at one node in HV, and am trying to plot displacement resolved in new CSYS.
But, I expected displacement at new CSYS to be zero, while HV gives positive values.
Am I missing something in the definition of CSYS?
My requirement is to make particular node and plane as basis of calculation for other nodes (solving a fracture mechanics problem, and need to shift CSYS to crack tip for further analysis)
