How can I mesh a solid with mesh points passing through designated points

Dear All,

I am a new user.

i am trying to mesh a solid object with some reinforcements inside this solid. The solid will be meshed by 3d elements. The reinforcements will be simulated by beam elements. In order to maintian connectivity, The nodes of reinforcements have to shared with the nodes of 3d elements.

However, i have difficulty to achieve that. Is there any command in geometry that I can do to partition the soild with points or line? Thank you for answering my question.

Hi,

you have to divide your solid. You can use Menu 'Geometry->Edit->Solids->Trim with Lines (or Nodes, Planes, Surfaces...).

You can also use the nodes of the solids to create the beams, since beams normaly created with 'Mesh->Create->1D Elements->Bars->Node A and B.

Hello,

I am a newbie also. My question is similar, so I thought I could ask it here.

I have a 2D surface, and a line passing through it. Think of a panel without a hole and fastener.

I create an intersecting node, by (node create/intersect/line/surface)

When I auto mesh the 2d panel, the elements will not use the node I have created.

In Patran, there is a Point Associate with Surface feature, which allows the mesh to pass through the point on the surface. What is the alternative in Hypermesh for the same feature?

hi,

enter panel 'geom/point edit/add/on surfs' to create a fixed point

pick the surf and the node created by intersecting line/surf

automesh will make mesh connect to the fixed point
