Check element time steps
HELLO,EVERYBODY!
when i check elems with 'Check Elements(F10)' (HYPERWORKS 11), in the time subpanel i'm not clear about the function HM_CALC_TIMESTEP. how i gonna do can meet the 'failure criteria' the HM_CALC_TIMESTEP predefined?
now my model's property is shell, could the results of 2d elems checking affect the time subpanel results of minimun values? how?
please help me!#-o

as i understand you want to use the the criterias for your model (qi optimize mesh). time step calculation method lets you to define your material properties and then it calculates the element criterias for your meshing purpose. then you decide which is the best for you. for example: you need a time step of 1e-6, material is steel, then this calculator uses the criterias below to mesh your model. it checks the minimum lengths of elements while auto meshing it. then you can review your mesh from the quality index menu and see which elements are good and bad for you. bad element means due to the lower element sizes it will add some mass while calculting them and if your bad elements are high then mass error will increse etc. so instabilites may occur while in calculation (time steps drop below some threshold and it will add them virtual mass to increase the time step). check solver manulas for detailed information.
