3D meshing of an assembly
HI,
Can anyone inform how to start meshing the component which i have attached with this post..and give connectivity between two?
It is like a cylinder, one component inside another in contact. If i mesh both components separately how will i give connectivity? Is it possible to connect them using 'faces' option? Just give me a basic idea. I have worked on plate structures using mid-surface. i have no idea about solid structures.
And how do i use boolean operation to combine them both? Not able to select the components to combine...
Can use multi solid option in 3D>solid map to mesh this structure..?
Thanks in advance. Please reply.

Hi Keerthan
if these 2 parts can rotate relatively, connect them by cylindrical joint (dynamic analysis)
in static analisys, you can connect them by RBE2 or common nodes (share nodes between 2 comps)
ect,... depends on what you want to analysis

@ keerthan can you please elaborate it by giving few examples for different types of connections used for different analysis...
added to that assume a valve assembly with 20 parts (bolts, washers, spring, ball, bonnet, flange etc..) are meshed with hex8 mesh for fatigue and thermal ... now how to establish connectivity between thm ? a valve has too many mating surfaces where we cannot use RBE2, and giving spot welds or adhesives are not justifying the real scenario so how do we give the contact between them ??
thanks in advance...
