Plot of von mises along node path

Hi,

i'm trying to create a plot of the vonMises stress (or any selected stress from the contour plot) along a node path.

this is done in the example of the following guide: http://training.altairuniversity.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Student_Guide_307-342.pdf  in Step10, Page 321

The problem is that i don't have the 'Node Path' option in the selection list for a new measure group...  I also created a set with the nodes i want the stresses to plot.

And: from the picture in the guide, it says 'X Axis: Distance': what does the distance refer to? the original geometry or the deformed one?

I'm using Hyperworks 13.

Thank you in advance,

Michael

    Hello,

be sure, that your contour plot are 'node based', it's a requirement for a 'node path' curve. Otherwise yo can't see 'node path' & 'nodal contour', instead 'elemental contour'.

You can switch on 'averaging' (like in the example) to convert element based to node based results (if you don't have 'corner' results). Displacements e.g. are always node based.

If the result is 'linear static' based, the distances are measured at the deformed model.

If the result is 'transient' based, the distances are measured at the actual frame.

    Best regards,

    Mario
