How do I switch between different unit systems, say meters to inches, N to lb, Pa to psi and so on ?

usually there is no fixed units. For consistency you have to check by yourself.
If you want to switch, the you have to scale the entities.
Only for exceptions are special cards, e.g. Optistruct NLGEOM solution.
