local coordinate system definition help required

Hello,

I need help regarding assigning local co-ordinate system.

I placed a local co-ordinate system at one node, which is at certain orientation w.r.t. Global CSYS.

After analysis, I observe positive displacement on the node where local CSYS is applied.

Is it the expected behavior?

I expected the newly defined CSYS (or the origin node) to remain stationary when results are resolved in new CSYS.

Please suggest if I need to do something different.

Refer to attached image of crack tip and local CSYS defined (small dot shown in grey colour, a little downwards of crack)

How have you created the system, is it by node reference using systems panel?

is it possible to share the model?

Hi Prakash,

CSYS was created using the following:

Menu > Mesh > Assign > Create by Axis Direction --> Selected origin node --> X-axis defining node, and finally XY plane defining node.

Rectangular coordinate system was used.

I am unable to share the model.

is it a non linear analysis?

In such case you please try with coordinate system with node reference,

Thanks for the reply.

The problem is type linear static.

I referred to other threads where the local CSYS was defined in HyperView as well.

But the displacement results resolved in CSYS created in HV still show non zero displacement at new CSYS.
