Prakash,
Can we create the part geometry from elements. Because i have rad file which doesnt have geometry.

Bhavana.

Yes,
Use From FE option in Geom>> Surfaces which extracts surface(S) from elements.

Thanks Prakash,
The geometry is created but not within the component. It created in faces component. Cant we have the geometry in the same component in which we have mesh.

Bhavana,
Make sure you have activated the 'Split by Components' option to have surface or geometry in same component as mesh.

Yes the option was activated. When iam creating the surface, the elemens were not selected so i have extracted the faces for that component and made the meshed component current. Then i have created surface, it created in faces component.

Bhavana,
In such case you have to organize face elements of solid elements in their respective components and extract the surface.

yes i have tried doing that. while creating faces i made the meshed component as current and found faces. But again faces were created in seperate component.

Bhavana,
when you extract faces, a new compoenent will be created and shell elements will be organized into that component.
Use the script which I have mentioned in my previous post which may help you when extracting faces.

Prakash,
I have downloaded the tcl script, how to use this?

File Menu>> Run>> Tcl/Tk

Prakash,
The Tcl script has created faces for the selected component as a different component which we can do by tools>faces. But i need to create a geometry for the meshed component with in the component.
For example 'rod' is my component which i have only elements in rod but doesnt have geometry. when we run the tcl file, it will ask to select the component. After selecting rod, it created rod_shell another component which consists of faces. But i need to create face elements in rod component so that i can select those elements while extracting geometry.
Please suggest me if we have any tcl script to create faces with in the selected component or can we merge two components among which one has elements and the other has geometry?

Bhavana,
I dont see a way to directly organize surfaces to their respective solid element components.
The TCL will allow you to extract faces and organize them with component name followed by SHELL. You can organize the surfaces into parent components using Organize panel (Shift+F11).
