Hi,
Â
i want to create a marker in MotionView/MotionSolve which origin stays at fix coordinates (parent body is ground with coordinates 0,0,0) and orientates its z-axis to a moving point (of a body).
Thanks for replying.
Hi LoHo,
You can create a local coodinate system using Marker's panel.
In the parent body, select the ground body. Create a point with (0,0,0) as coordinates and select the same point for origin point.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
Thanks for quick answer,
and how do i orientate the local coordinate system to my moving point?
You can choose Orientation axis from the options (orient two axes).
Hi,Â
i tried this before, but in the animation the marker does not follow the point i choose. Is this happening because the point does not refer to a body? Do i have to choose something other than a Point (defined by coordinates)?
can you share the model please?
please use the dropbox link available in the signature below.
Hi Prakash Pagadala,
at this moment i uploaded a minimal working example for you. Thanks for helping.
I dont think it will move along with the target body as the marker is fixed to ground body.
Instead, can you please fix it to Target body?
In this case the marker will move relative to the target body.
if i fix it to the target body, the marker will not move 'relative' to the target because it's fixed to it. It will behave (move) like its a fixed part of the target body.
I think Altair has to improve the definition of markers, because in my opinion it's elementary to have a marker which is translational fixed to a body and the orientation is given by another body.
If you havent got any other idea, nevertheless thank you.
Thanks. I will create an RFE for the same.
I would also like to know if this functionality (marker orientation tracking between two moving bodies) is available yet?
