When I am meshing a file, while creating solids, It gives an error that no enclosed volume found.

I have attached the screenshot.

Please view your model using mixed mode for topological line.if any connectivity issue is there, remove same using surface edit and solid edit option.

I have tried in mixed but, unable to find about the issue. Is there any fault in the CAD geometry.

I have attached the snapshot of the model.

    Hi,

From snapshot it looks fine without any free edges.Hope you want generate Tetra or hexahedral elements.

To create solid from surfaces you should use bounding surface option in Solid.

    Hi Rahul,

I used the bounding surface option only, from surfs tab I selected(displayed and all also) but when I click on create, I gives the same error.

    Hi,

Reason for showing error in Status bar of Hm 'No enclosed volume found' is intended one.

I checked your model. It is already in solid format. In delete planel when I select solid it is detecting component as solid.Because of that only it is giving such error.See attached thumbnail for reference.

Bounding surface in solid will help you to generate solid from surface which enclose a volume.

    Hi Rahul,

Thanks for your help, So I can directly create the inlet and outlet components and then meshing for optimisation.

I have gone through the tutorials of size and shape optimisation, what loads and constraints should I apply in a simple pipe. It has no loads and external force. for constraints, should I fix it from 6DOF from inlet and outlet or something else.

    Hi,

Load and boundary condition is something which we have to apply based on real life scenario.

I hope you would be aware of pipe application. Based on that you have to apply boundary condition.

If you are not having any information about pipe then initially to start off we would recommend you to assume boundary condition like (At one end pipe is fixed and at other end apply load)

Inlet and outlet portion using rigid element apply constraint and force. Objective of size optimization is to get best thickness variation for given loading condition.

Follow attached thumbnail example to carry out size optimisation of pipes.

Note: Since you are not aware of LBC we propose you to assume LBC.

    Hi Rahul,

I have tried assigning the inlet/ outlet surface and it doesnot been created. Why??

It is a solid then why I am getting the problem with this model?

    Method:

    (Shift+F11)> selected surface(by face)> destnation component(as inlet)> move

    it does not move.

    Hi Rahul,

I have done the shape optimisation with the model. But it gives the error on running the simulation that, error in input processing. I think there is some mistake in meshing but please let me know what I have done wrong.

    I have attached the screenshot.

I can send you the final .hm file if you want, which was saved before running the solver.
