How can i do 2D meshing for this two parallel surfaces(20 mm apart)and provide rigid connectivity ?

Hello.....

I am working on assembly of components for that i have extracted midsurfaces and completed the 2 D meshing but at few places two plates(Different Thickness) are parallel and connected via welding in actual practice so when i extracted mid surfaces from that plates there was huge gap between that two plates .

So... my question is

How can i do 2D meshing for this two parallel surfaces and provide rigid connectivity ?

Hi,

Mesh one surface and project matching elements of one surface on to other surface to maintain elements parallel to each other between which rigid elements need to be created.
