Getting a smooth mesh between two solid components

Hello. I have two solid components which I want to mesh but I would want the mesh to join smoothly between the components. However, I need to keep the two parts designated as two separate components, so I can't use the union option in solid edit --> boolean.

What should I do?

    Hi,

Boolean option in Solid edit will help you to split geometry only.Mesh connectivity can be ensured using:  tools: faces  option. Hence  Connectivity would be maintained at junction.

Smooth mesh depends upon your surface mesh. Smooth command is also available for Mesh smoothening of 2d & 3d elements (see user guide for info)

Please share snapshot of your model for more information.

I'm trying to make sure the vertices of the green solid mesh join up with the vertices of the red solid mesh. Is this possible?

Yes it is possible to achieve. You take the mesh of red colour region and project it to green colour component. Then mesh the remaining region of green colour component using spline command with nodes to get proper connectivity.

One more method which you could try is split the both the component at junction and then mesh both compenent.

So I went into Tools ==> Project, what options should I pick now and which parts of the red and green components should I select?

    Hi,

Use project  element to surface command.See thumbnail. Splitting option is also good.

So from the limited amount of information you've subtly dispersed to me, I'm guessing this is what I have to do:

    1) Create the two solid components

    2) Mesh one of the components

    3) Project all the elements of that component to a surface of the second one

    4) Mesh the second component
