Hello everyone,

I want to mesh a solid that I've created in a dxf file but when I import the geometry, I can only select lines from my geometry..

Is there anyone who can help me ?

Thank you.

    Hi,

i think dxf format supports line geometry only, you could try importing step data

I dont think you can do some mesh with DXF. Try IGES or STEP.

Ok thank you for your answers.

I'm now starting to work with the IGES format.

But can I have your point of view concerning these format, IGES and STEP.

My goal is to model a parabolic spring with some data with matlab, so the geometry is complex.

Which one would be the best for my work ?

    Thank you.

i can not give you theoretical background, but from my practical expierence these formats are not very different, since both support volumetric entities. Personnally i prefer step-format.
