Suppressed Edges After Importing IGES File from ABAQUS
Hi all,
I am trying to use Hypermesh to mesh a solid geometry created by Abaqus. After creating the geometry in Abaqus(the grey model picture), I export the part to a IGES file which then got imported into Hyperworks.
However, when I try to create a solid with the imported geometry in Hypermesh, it says 'no closed volume found'. I changed the geometry colour mode to 'by 2D Topo' and noticed all edges are in light blue (as shown in the blue model picture) which means they are all suppressed(?)
Any advice on how to solve this problem?
Many thanks,
Wensong

Wensong,
It looks to me like it is already a solid, can you change to 3d topo? or go to tool > count and see if there is a solid counted in the geometry entity subpanel.
In Hypermesh 12.0, when you import a solid body iges file, it is imported directly as a solid geometry. You can confirm this by going to the Mask Tab and then Hide the solids and surfaces under Geometry, Turn-By-Turn to view the solid components and the surface components.

Hi Rahul,
Thanks! Indeed it is a solid already. Stupid me!
btw, I dropped you a message regarding to point cloud import meshing yesterday. Could you please kindly spare some time to have a look at it? or do you prefer me posting it in the forum instead?
Thank you so much for your help.

Wensong,
Please try to register as a client to the client center, if this is approved, you can then use the client center as a client and all scripts will be visible to you.

Hi Rahul,
Thanks for replying.
Indeed I have registered as a client to the client centre and the request has been approved, but this particular script(ID:822) is still not visible. Please see the screen shot attached.
Any idea?

I confirm there is no script ID 822 on the site.

Hi Nguyen,
Thanks for confirming, I am re-assured.
I attached the screen shot provided by Rahul previously. The ID 822 script is probably only visible for some certain user group (as there is a lock sign).
Rahul, please help me with it.

But which user group can see this script ?
We are Altair's client since many years.

All,
Can you try with the search 'point cloud'
Nothing for me. See screenshot.

All,
I apologize for the confusion, since it is a confidential script the system looks for the email id and only if is an altair email id, it gives access to view and then send the request.
Please check with the Altair application engineer for your region for the script, he will be able to provide it you.
Wensong,
I am afraid this script may not be available for student users, if your university is an Altair customer then the university can contact the Altair account manager for the region for the script.

Hi Rahul,
Unfortunately, my university does not have a Hyperworks subscription. Would you be able to suggest any other ways that can automate the 'point cloud information input + 3D solid meshing' process? It will have to be fully automated as large number of this process needs to be carried out repeatedly in my analysis.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Wensong
