Is Stl The Only Epxort Option For Optimized Geometry?

Hello,
First of all we are working on providing export to STEP and IGES in the near future.
When exporting to STL please note that the unit in the exported STL file will be the units you are using for display at the time of export. This is indicated in the STL file header:
solid STL Data: Exported from Inspire 9.5, solidThinking Inc, An Altair Company. Unit : mm

Thank you for your reply.
I have set the units to be inches, then perform a save as STL and the part is not scaled properly it looks as though it is being output in mm as it is 25.4X too big when i bring it into solidworks.
update: SW was defaulting to a MM template. It works fine now.

is there a way to bring the STL into EVOLVE and write out a solid model?

Hello,
It is not possible to write out a Solid model from an STL file in Evolve. However, you could use the optimized shape as a template for your design and make the changes to your original geometry in Evolve.
To bring the optimized shape, You can right-click on the shape in Inspire and choose Save to Evolve option from the context. This exports the .STL file to Evolve.
You can then start Evolve, click on the Optimization shapes browser (located under Generate Shape) to bring up the browser and retrieve the STL file.

Hello,
No. It is not possible to convert the .STL file to a solid directly in Evolve.
