Importing lattice optimised models into 3-matic

Hi,

I've successfully created a model optimised using lattice capabilities in HyperMesh. The model contains areas of solid and lattice structures. I am attempting to export this into 3-matic and convert to an .stl file.

The first process I tried was:

Exporting the lattice HM file to .fem with a Filetype= Optistruct and Template=Long.

I imported the .fem file into 3-matic using the remesh module.

This worked well for the first time I used 3-matic and showed the lattice clearly.

I am now trying again and the lattice is not showing at all in 3-matic, even with the exact file that worked the first time.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Something would be wrong in 3 matic. Close session and try again. If it worked earlier then it should work now also.

    Hi,

is there something like a tutorial for the steps within 3-matic?

I'm trying to prepare a lattice optimized .fem file for 3d-printing.

    thanks in advance!

    best regards

    Hi Prakash,

I was trying to export STL file of the lattice generated and optimised model so that it could be opened with 3-matic where the smoothening can be done! However every time the file is exported it shows file size of 0 kB whereas other formats like nastran is exporting just fine.

    Hi Prakash,

I need to export lattice optimized results to CAD for 3-D printing. Is it possible to do with OSSmooth?

We have Hypermesh-Optistruct licenses. Do we need to purchase 3-Matic license separately for lattice export capability?

    Hi CHandrasekhar,

You can output to Stl file or any other CAD formats for 3D printing.

Please get in touch with 3-Matic for more information on supported CAD formats.
