How to define point anywhere in the imported CAD ?

Imported CAD body seems to have random mesh. And its only able to choose / define points in those particular nodes. How to refine that mesh Or is it has anything to do with CAD exporting / settings ?

Note: i use MV 12

    Hi,

Import the CAD model in HyperMesh, mesh and save the model as .hm file.

Now you can able to import the .hm file in MotionView through Import>> HyperMesh.

I will only do rigid body analysis.

In that case, only the surface 2D mesh for a 3D solid body is enough ?

if you are just considering for Contact then solid elements should preferred... but for current Contact methods you may need locally fine shell mesh in Contact area..

    Dear ahilan,

you can add the nodes using Motion view Utility menu, while importing the step file to motionview it goes to Motion view Utility menu there you can use Hypermesh tools from the panel.

    Thanks
