Belt Drive simulation

How can I simulate belt drive systems on Motionview? Is there any toolkit to use? Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

     

    As of now there is no toolkit available, but there should be one coming with the next version.

     

    From one of our experts, suggested approaches to model are:

     

    Approach 1:

    ·        Model the belt as set of bodies connected by bush or revolute joints.

    ·        Define rigid body contacts between pulley & belt bodies.

     

    Cons: - Solver convergence may be an issue due to highly oscillating contact forces.

     

    Approach 2:

    If interested in motion transmission but not the contact forces, one can try using a user subroutines.
