IGES - Surfaces from Hypermesh to ANSYS Workbench

Hi,

I have a complex geometry that I cleaned on Hypermesh: I have Suppressed edges and no more Free and Non-manifold edges, but Shared edges to define several surfaces.

I exported those 6 new surfaces into an IGES file in order to import them in ANSYS Workbench 15 for meshing and further analysis.

The problem is, once the file is imported in Workbench, I have almost 600 different bodies and visually only a line (which reveals to be a plane surface when I zoom-in a lot...), in other words, I do not recognize my geometry and this is obviously exploitable.

I think my Suppressed edges may alter something ...

Thank you in advance for your advices.

Have you tried changing the various options while exporting (you have a choice called export options), formats other than iges?

so this problem does not occur if you export without suppressing the edges?

Rahul Ponginan, thank you for your reply.

Yes, I already tried to change the Export Options (Planes, Outer loop, Layers), in vain.

Other formats ? Not really, as I have only IGES choice in Export Geometry. Maybe is there a way to generate a STEP file ?

I tried to export without any Suppressed Edges, in other words, only Shared Edges (but as a consequence I have many surface whereas I wanted just my 6 new ones).

Anyway, this option did not change anything.

@PL_Hyper: Try STEP! For my experience, if STEP is available, always use this format. That's better than IGES.

I would like to try a STEP, but how can I generate this type of file with Hypermesh ?

In Export options there is only a choice for IGES.

    Thanks for your advice Q.NEGUYEN-DAI.

    Hi PL_Hyper,

what is the version of HyperWorks are you using?

is it a complete suite or student Edition?

After all, I managed to avoid this problem and had a different procedure.

I generated a mesh on Hypermesh and exported it into an ANSYS format.

After what, I imported this file in Workbench and generated a Parasolid from the mesh in order to obtain my geometry (one body).

In any case, thank you everyone for your precious help and advices !

But, I would still have one little question: is it possible to remove definitively a Suppressed Edge (blue one) permanently from an HM model ?
