Hi everyone,

I'm trying to get results from Hiperview and I only know basic functionalities.

I need to calculate a factor of safety for laminated composite, but for TsaiWu or Hoffman, the factor of safety is not straight forward and need to be computed with the stress values.

I dig a little bit and found the TsaiWu reserve factor on the derived result in the composite library as TsaiWuRF.

I need to apply this and would like to do the same with the Hoffman criteria.

Can anybody explain me how to get the stress table, set table, ply table and whatever is necessary to use this function? Or give me a tutorial which would explain me this.

Thank you very much,

Best regards,

Gonçalo

    Hi @GonPer

Since HoffMan RF is not a predefined equation available on Derived Math module, I will check and let you know if there is a way to calculate the same.

    Hi Prakash,

    Thank you for your answer.

I've used the PARAM,SRCOMPS card to get the reserve factor of a failure criteria.

I've read in the user manual that Hoffman and Tsai Wu doesnt work with this, only MaxStrn and Hill because those are really easy to calculate.

However I've runned a analysis with this card on, with Hoffman criteria and it gives values. Why?

If you can give a guideway to use TsaiWuRF I would appreciate, I know how to make equations but only easy ones.

    Best regards,

    Gonçalo

    Hi @GonPer,

TsaiWu RF needs material props like Xt, Xc, Yt, etc... In order to include this you need to load both .fem file and .h3d file and make sure the you have composite template on HyperView.

TsaiWuRF equation is readily available and all you have to do is to insert the parameters as shown in the description.

Thank you for the fast answer.

I haven't been able to get a list that big. I might not included the .fem file and only the .h3d.

I will give it a try.

    Best regards
