Trouble with Tie contact
I have two 2d meshes approximately .132in apart but where the laminates will contact each other. I have been trying the tie surface contact but when I run the simulation there is no load transfer from one part to the other.
Is there any other way to perform this or something I should be looking out for in particular?
Thank you for any advice regarding this subject.

Hi,
Can you share the model please?
Can you also check if there is any load transfer happening when you have rigids instead of tie contact.

Alright so basically the model is a multipart fea with two wheel shells made of laminates and a solid 3d aluminum wheel center. The only things attaching the shells together are the laminates when cured and then the wheel shells will be connected to the aluminum center with bolts. What is the best way of achieving these constraints? So far I've just used tie although I know to achieve an accurate model I should be using bolts and possibly other contacts.
Also I have tried rigids in the past which did nothing when the two surfaces were not on top of each other.

Hi,
I do see load transfer happening, I can see stress in all the components from the H3D file you shared.
You are correct. To have accurate results you need to assemble with bolts, welds, etc...

Also Is there a way to apply loads or contact surfaces onto a laminate instead of just the midplane mesh?

Hi,
You can actually adjust the position of the laminate using Z0 in PCOMPP.
I don't see a way to apply the load on top of the laminate.

Hi Ank,
Looks like there is something missing in contact definition.
Is it possible to share model file?

no sir due to some reason i cannot share the model.
