displacement BC and material (MAT12) selection question

Hi,

 

Q1;

In ABAQUS, there is BC called displacement which I can apply to the model for quasi-static analysis. I am wondering is there a similar  function in Hyperwork, because I tried every option from the BC and Setup menu, but I just can not find it. Or this function can be performed with some other alternative ways.

 

Q2:

I am currently doing a nonlinear quasi-static correlation to test with the material of aluminium. In the NASTRAN, MAT12 is used for nonlinear static analysis SOL 106. But there is no way to choose it from the material drop down list when I started to create. So what should I do?

    Hi Thomas,

     

    A1:

    E.g. for Nastran/Radioss bulk go to Analysis->constraints->load type=SPC

    Now you can enter a value into dofx = 'your value' instant of zero (zero=default). Thats generates a prescribed displacement of 'your value'.

     

    A2:

    In MSC/Nastran V2012 manual MAT12 doesn't exists, so i think it isn't a MSC/Nastran bulk material.

    In MSC/Nastran, MAT12 exist only for explicit solution (maybe MSC/Dytran), so you can't choose it for a static or nonlinear static decks...

    I do use the NASTRAN V2012 solver. If MAT12 doesn't exist, which material should I use for nonlinear static analysis?

    Hi Thomas,

     

    the question is whats type of material do you need!?

    If you know this, then you can look at the online help and choose the right one.

    The most MATs for linear static are working for nonlinear analysis too.

     

    Example:

    MAT1 - linear elastic in linear static solution

    MAT1 + option MATS1 (card editor) elastic plastic for nonlinear solution (in MATS1 you can define e.g. type, yield point, tangent modulus...)
