3D Tetra Remesh with Contacted Surface Remain Contacted

Hi,

I have an assembly that contains two mesh components and few regions of the mesh components are in contact with each other. I need to remesh one of the mesh components so that all elements in that component satisfies certain element quality criteria. However, I suspect the remesh feature in HM always comes with a small variation in component boundary geometries and this has caused problem in the later FE analysis which requires the two components still be in contact in the exact way as they were before being remeshed.

I therefore wonder if there is a way that can remesh the mesh component without changing any boundary geometries at the regions that the two components are in contact? maybe by defining some 'feature angle' parameter? I cant find this option in the 3D TETRA REMESH panel.

Many thanks,

Wensong

    wensong,

You can consider part replacement (this is more advanced in 13.0)

Aleternatively, you can extract face elements of your tetramesh > organize these face elements into a collector > and when in 3d Tetramesh > you can use the match exiting mesh option > and then select the previously created collector.
