Quality index for 3D elements

Hey Guys,

 

I had problem several times in the past with the 3D tetrameshing. My mesh on the surface is pretty good, you can see the mesh criteria file settings on the attached picture, but my 3D tetramesh isn't good enough. There was error during element check. (I know I can turn off element check, but I want to make a good 3D mesh).

Therefore I would like to ask guys, that give me a criteria file, that will be good enough for 3D tetramesh.

Hi,

The quality parameters are set by the user/client. Based on the client's need we mesh and check the quality of elements. And So, we can only generalise the quality parameter range.

 I would like to recommend you to go through the Practical Aspects of Finite Element Simulation (A Study Guide) ebook where the quality checks for tetrameshing is well covered with examples (page 245 onwards). There you can find the ideal quality values and the genrally accepted range of quality values.
