Groups - find and sync

Hi,

I'm using Hypermesh for preprocessing my abaqus models.

I have very huge models with hundreds of contacts. I need a possibility to find groups by clicking the associated elements in the model window. For structural elements, I can use the arrow selector and by clicking an element, the associated group is highlighted in the model tree...this doesn't work for groups...

I have another problem with the groups..when I delete a component, the groups are not synchronized...there are still groups with 'surface identifiers' for elements that are no more existing!!! That's really annoying.

Please help me!!!!

Best regards,

Frank

    Frank,

For the first case go to tool > find > find attached > toggle the top switch to groups > bottom to elements > select the elements > attached groups are identified > save found > retrieve in any other panel you want by going to extended entity selector (the yellow entity button , elements for example) and then clicking on retrieve.

For the second question, when you are in the delete panel > change the entity to groups > you can preview unused or preview empty > this will identify unused / empty groups > which you can then delete.

    Hi,

thank you very much for your fast support!

I was successfull in retrieving groups connected to elements by using the 'find' tool!

Your second solution doesn't work with my model. I deleted elements and the associated groups are remaining. I go to the delete panel > change the entity to groups > preview empty -> no empty groups found, which is correct, because the surface identifiers are still in the group. I'm not able to click on 'preview unused' because this button is everytime 'greyed out'...what's the reason for this behaviour?

I suppose, that the 'preview unused' collector only works with props and mats...

In my optinion, with deleting elements, the associated group surface identifiers should automatically be deleted!
