Optistruct - 3D Mesh/Solids

Hi Forum,

 

Currently I am working on a new part for a project. The part is made from steel and I use a 3D Trias/Tetra Mesh. Since this day, I have a new, more advanced design.

 

The problem: On importing the part, i see missing material, missing surfaces, which i can repair. There are also no free edges left. BUT, when I want to mesh, it is not possible to select the 3D Solids, I can only select Surfaces? Any other previous part has worked out...

 

Somebody had this problem?

    Hi,

    Please make sure that surface should be enclosed as volume(remove free edges & missing surface)

    In geometry page you have option to create solid using bounding surface. See attached screenshot.

    Hi Rahul,

     

    I immediately solved the problem with substituting the solidworks model from Iges to Step. Now i have the full geometry, but when solving the model gives rise to another problem error: something with my mesh quality, altough zero % elements fail. Is there any place i can send in my model to check it by an altair expert?

    Hey guys,i got this warning by my mesh-solid. after meshing the result war anormal and i tried to check what was wrong and i got this: E len=0.5/7.85,id=501.V turn=93.4degs,id=60 Gap=0.0239

    any answer to fix this?

    Hi

    your problem is not clear. try change geom visual style to 'by topo'. check for any red line (free surface lines)

    delete solid and go to geom>auto cleanup, edit parameters to cleanup your cad before doing 3d mesh
