exercise with beam

Hello,

I try to model a beam with one end fix and the other a vertical load. The cross section is rectagular. I create the material, the section ( 1D, Hyper Beam, Standard section library:Hyper Beam , Standard section type:solid rectangle), the property(PBEAM; assigning material and beam section). Then I create the extreme node and the element(1D, bars,Cbeam , orientation :Yaxis). I don't understed very well as define the orientation of the cross section.Next i create load collector, create Spc and force, assign load step and chosen the control cards. But I don't know how to select the stress recovery point ( what is M1a M2a... in property card edit?); how to see the element force in Hyperview results (shear plane and bending plane).

Thanks

valentina.

For BEAM elements, orientation of cross section is important. The neutral axis of the beam is generally taken as X-axis (node A and node B).But how would the solver understand how the cross section should be aligned. Here comes the vector orientation into picture. If beam axis is Z axis then give orientation as X or Y axis.

The vector should not be in the same axis as the beam. PFA online help screenshot for PBEAM.
