Hi folks,

I allready got some great help from this forum and I hope you can help me again this time.

I've created a patch like structure and now want to measure S11. When I start the Solver I getting the error 33270: 'A triangle edge is too short or EPSENT is too large.'

Can please please someone help me to get rid of this error?!

I'm running FEKO 7.0.1-256428.

Thank you so much.

Regards, Mathias

I'm attaching an alternative model that should at least run (if your machine is strong enough).

First, regarding the error: The solver doesn't like it when you have very long, thin triangles.  The way that your top substrate was created caused problematic triangles because it had one very thin face.

Second, I've made a few changes to the model to make it runnable:

    • The coplanar waveguide requires a ground plane section on the bottom of the substrate; this has been added
    • The edge port is not supported when it is created on the boundary of a dielectric; I've pushed it out a little so that the feed will work
    • There was a tiny gap between the fractal antenna and the substrate.  This didn't make sense and would have caused erroneous output.

My goal was just to get rid of the error and to get the model to run.  I'm not convinced that the results will be accurate; you will need to mesh much more finely in some parts before you can get reliable data.
