Split hexa element in one dirrection

Hi,

 

I am trying to refine the mesh by splitting hexa element in one direction. However, it seems that Hypermesh does not let me to do that. I posted my question two weeks ago but received no answers. Can any one help me with that?

 

Here's more description on what I intend to do:

When I go to 3D-->Split-->refine element-->elem(all), it only refine the mesh on the surface part (second picture) and does not apply through the entire model. I need to split each element to two only along the 'y' direction. It means that instead of 8 elements in 'y' direction I need 16 elements.

could you hide domain & handles for better understanding of your model?just highlight where you want to split.
