Interfaces in Heat Flux and thermal stress analysis
Hi.
I have Two cuboid blocks of different materials, one inside another. i.e. Outer block has a cuboid space at the center in which inner block is placed. See Here. http://i.imgur.com/zGuGj.png The outer surface of the inner block is in direct contact with the inner surface of outer block.
A very high value constant heat flux(Burned in a furnace ) is applied at the outer surface of the outer block.
Now I want to see the thermal and structural behavior of both the blocks.
How should I proceed? What are the interfaces that I need to give for the same. I have gone through tutorial RD 1080. but it didn't work.

Hi Vij,
are the two blocks connected by any means (nodal contact or FREEZE contact)?
Make sure you have connection between two blocks.

Hello Sir.
The two blocks are in direct contact. They can transfer heat as well as stresses.
What are these nodal contact or FREEZE contact?
I have applied three interfaces:-
=>Created CHBDY Surface elements on the outer surface of the outer block.
Interface 1: (Type: CONDUCTION) for the outer heatflux and the outer surface of the outer block. (As in tutorial RD-1080)
=> Created CHBDY Surface elements on the outer surface of the inner block.
Interface 2: (Type: CONDUCTION) for the resulting heatflux at the inner surface of the outer block and the outer surface of the inner block. (As in tutorial RD-1080)
=> Created Two element sets for the elements of inner and outer blocks.
Interface 3 : ( CONTACT Type: Slide) between SET of inner block and SET of outer block.
Are these wrong?
