Lightning Analysis

Hi @mahdi72,
Lightning analysis and cable modelling are both quite complex fields of study. This means there is no quick answer to your question, although you might want to start with:
- 'Lightning' related topics: http://www.altairhyperworks.com/ResourceLibrary.aspx?keywords=lightning&altair_products=FEKO
- 'Cable Harness EMC/EMI: Cross Talk, Radiation, Interference & Susceptibility': http://www.altairhyperworks.com/ResourceLibrary.aspx?keywords=Cable+Harness+EMC%2fEMI%3a+Cross+Talk%2c+Radiation%2c+Interference+%26+Susceptibility&altair_products=FEKO

Hi @mahdi72,
You can use the MoM solver in FEKO (possibly with double precisions/ low frequency stabilisation) to simulate the spectrum of the lightning pulse that you are interested in (typically in the range of about 1kHz-10MHz). Then in POSTFEKO you can use the time analysis functionality to definite the lightning pulse and determine the pulsed voltage & current responses on the cables.
There is an excellent webinar on time analysis available in our resource library:

andries ,Thank you for your attention, In fact I want to investigate Lightning effect on Rod on multi_layer ground! Is the attached file correct?

@mahdi72 you may need to use slightly more frequency points or try using logarithmic spacing in order to resolve the field change in the E-field at the lower frequencies. Also it seems that you have used a very fine mesh for the rode. You should be able to get the same accuracy with a bigger segment size.
