2D and 3D mass

What is 2D and 3D mass? There is an option to select such mass in HyperMesh for the preferene of Ansys under ET Types.

MORE INFO: These options are available under 1D category of HyperMesh which are used for lumped masses. If Mass node is known as a zero dimension element, why do we have these options and where can it be used is what I want to understand. Thanks in advance.
