Is it possible to assign residual stresses as an initial stresses in hypermesh?can we assign transverse and longitudinal residual stresses for each element separately in hypermesh??

From which solver you are getting initial stress & with this initial stresses what type of analysis you want to perform?
Altair Hypercrash is having mapping capability.

Sir I have calculated the residual stresses by using the formula proposed by labeas.Now the residual stress which I have calculated by formula I have to assign as an initial stresses in analysis of tension test specimen.
I hope you are talking about stamping results initial stresses to carryout structural analysis.
You can carryout Stamping & structural analysis using Radioss solver with initial stresses.Refer attached screenshot of FAQ for Radioss.
