Plastic Strain Limit of Metals

Hi all,

in Hyperview, why do we consider that metals fail at %10 and more by looking to plastic strain along the thickness.

I know, generally metals breaks after %10 strain.

But is this value in 1 axis or 3 axis?

or when we want to investigate plastic strain along the thickness in 3 axis , which value do metals fail ? %50?

Thanks in advance.

    Hi @semih balci

Different organizations have different criterias on strian.

Few companines limit Membrane strain to  0.2 time the ultimate strain and 0.3 times the surface strain.

There are also different strandards which describes strain limits for FE analysis.
