Subtracting one element from another

Hi, so right now, I have a model of a tooth with it's enamel cap and another model of just the cap. I'm thinking of meshing both of it, then by subtracting one from the other, I will end up with a perfect fit.

I also have the file of the tooth without the cap, but there are discrepancies between the cap and the tooth w/o the cap that makes weird results for load analysis. I tried tetrameshing both then imprinting, but I cannot get it to work. It ends up showing either simply 'failed to imprint' or 'must use shell elements' or something like that.

Do you like to make 'subtraction' over the mesh ? Do you have geometrical surfaces of your tooth?

If you work directly with the mesh, maybe do with shell elements firstly, then fill with TET later.

If you have surfaces, it's better /emoticons/default_smile.png' alt=':)' srcset='/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x' width='20' height='20'>

You can surface mesh one part > duplicate the mesh > project the duplicated elements to the next part > so now the surface meshes match > then proceed to tetramesh the volumes > make sure match existing mesh option is checked.
