When trying to run Feko, I am encountering the following license error:

Altair Feko - SECFEKO Version 2021.1-14 from 2020-05-29

(compiled for target PC_WIN64_EM64T_MKL, 64 bit)

ERROR 9161:

An error occurred while checking out a licence

Altair License Manager: License error

Feature(s): GlobalZoneEU, HyperWorks, HWFEKOGUI

Error Code: 9

Error Description:

Feature not found

Feature: FEKOGUI

Error Code: 51

Error Description:

[LOCAL] D:\Programs\Altair\Feko\security\altair_lic.dat - (Err: 51) Unable to use network license as a local license

License Path: D:\Programs\Altair\License\altair_lic.dat;D:\Programs\Altair\Feko\security\altair_lic.dat

image

Would anyone know how to solve this? I have:

  • Created an environment variable pointing to the license .dat file
    • image
  • Ensured that the license file is named altair_lic.dat and not altair_lic.dat.dat
  • Copied the altair_lic.dat file to the security folder of Feko. In my case D:\Programs\Altair\Feko\security\altair_lic.dat
    • image
  • Made sure the MAC address of my device corresponds with the one seen in the license file
  • Installed Altair License Manager and I am seeing this:
    image
  • Tried restarting the Altair License Server from Services.msc
  • Restarting the computer
  • Reinstalling Feko
  • Installing an older version of Feko

Any help or troubleshooting tips would be appreciated.

    hi,

what kind of license do you have? Is it student version? Or a server license?

You would only need the license manager, IF it is a server license (usually commercial license), and IF your machine is the server.

    Hi Adriano

I think it is a server license.

    Hi,

you need to know what type this is, so the procedure is right.

Where did you get this license from? Are you a customer of Altair? Or is it Student version?

I received the license from my workplace who is a customer of Altair. I believe that it is a server license.

If it is a server license, you will need to:

    1) install Altair License Manager

    2) during installation you will be prompted for the license file, which will be moved to C:\Altair\licensing14.5.1\altair_lic.dat

    3) once the license server is running (you can check in 'Services' if 'Altair License Server' is started and running

    4) now, for ALL CLIENT machines, including your own, you will need to create a environment variable ALTAIR_LICENSE_PATH = 6200@name_or_IP_of_server_machine   >> in your particular case, this will point to your own machine, as it is the server.
