I am doing topology optimization for maximizing the frequency of a desired mode. I have used required cards PARAM,MFILTER,0.7 ; PARAM,MODETRAK,YES  ; PARAM,TRAKMETH,0. Still the solver is not targeting the specified mode for optimization.

PARAM,TRAKMETH,0 corresponds to Mass cross-orthogonality check. I have used normalization method 'Mass' in EIGRL card. Is that the issue for improper mode tracking?

If I delete Mass normalization will the optimization lead in right direction?

Can I try trackmeth 1 or 2 alternately?

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks

Can you try new mode tracking approach which is available for 2017.0 or higher version.

    Hi Rahul,

    Thanks for suggesting alternate approach.

So the conclusion is 'the mode tracking methods available in Optistruct are not tracking the mode properly', is that correct?

    Thanks
