Create Seam Welds in Altair SimSolid
This video demonstrates different ways to create solid seam welds to connect the parts in Altair SimSolid. Watch this workflow to learn how to create welds using:
- Welds from solids
- Welds by lines/edges
- Master and mate parts
- Group weld option by selecting a group of parts

Gouthami,
What methods do you suggest when the welds fail to create from solids?
Also, is it recommended to implicitly create welds in SimSolid or bring weld solids from CAD and connect them via bonded contact?

hi,
Can you guys bring back the option to use the OLD seam weld in SimSolid new version?
I know that you have working hard to implement the solid weld. But sometimes it doesn't work well.
Instead, the old seam weld is still very useful in certain cases.
It would be nice if the 2022 version can have 2 options for the seam weld: the old implicit weld and the new solid weld.
Thanks!

Girish,
The following are the limitations we have today when creating solid seam welds.
- Tubes where edges are overhung
- Imported solids that have centerline far away from feature line
- Convex edges
- Merged solids
We recommend using implicitly created seam welds in SimSolid.

Hi,
could you let us know the situations where the new solid welds are not working well for you?
Thanks,
Gouthami
