How do I change the background appearance of the workbench?

Under Window->Preferences, General->Editor->Text Editors at the bottom there is "Appearance color options" with an option for "Background colour". Select the Color: box to see a palette of colors.

You may have to change "Selection Background Color". If you change to Grey it has right effect on editor. This method does not work for log, listing and other views in the framework.
