Hyperworks CFD Post Error

Hello,

I'm having an issue in Hyperworks CFD post.

On loading the background goes black, then when trying to move the model around it leaves a trail behind (screenshot attached).

Outside of post everything works perfectly, editing geometry, meshing and running the simulation so I don't think it's a hardware issue.

I'd appreciate any suggestions on how to fix it

Thanks!

Oh dear, that doesn't sound promising!

    My OS is:

    Edition Windows 10 Pro
    Version 21H2
    Installed on ‎07/‎03/‎2022
    OS build 19044.1566
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4170.0

I'm using integrated graphics on an intel alder lake processer, I understand that a dedicated GPU would be better, but I've found it works fine with other CAD software and HW (apart from post!)

My drivers are up to date and it's my desktop so not remote or in battery saver. I don't think it's a hardware problem as the rest of HW works perfectly, running quite large simulations fine.

I have just tried the h3d fix and unfortunately I still have the same problem.

    Thanks for your suggestions!

Looks like Intel graphics usage is not officially supported.  From the 'Altair Simulation 2021.2 Platform Support' document:

Only AMD and NVIDIA GPUs supported (Intel chipsets are not supported)

Meaning - results may vary.  Also:

Altair Simulation Graphical User Interface (GUI) products, when used with Ultra High Definition (UHD) displays consisting of 1920x1200 or higher (for example, 3200x1800, 3840x2160 or
4096x2160), may result in graphical problems. Some GUI items may not be displayed correctly, some functionality such as image captures may not capture images correctly, and window selection may become an issue. Altair Simulation 2021.2 does not officially support these high screen resolutions. We suggest setting your resolution to 1920x1200 or lower to resolve or minimize these types of issues from occurring.

We have seen this issue a few other times - and I haven't seen any fix for it yet.

    1.  Which OS are you running - full details
    2.  Which is your graphics card?  (And can you make sure HWCFD is not using the onboard graphics?)
    3.  Any difference after updating the graphics drivers?
    4.  Is this display local to your machine - or you using trying some sort of remote display/desktop?
    5.  Is your machine on 'battery saver' mode?

Just had another thought of something to try - curious to see if it makes a difference.  I'm assuming you pointed to the .Log file to open the results into HWCFD.  Does it behave better if you open a .h3d file instead?  You can translate the solution data to .h3d.

Open the AcuSolve Cmd Prompt 2021.2 from the Start > Altair 2021.2 menu.
Use 'cd' to browse to your problem directory - where you see the .inp/.Log files

    acuTrans  -out  -to  h3d

Then try opening the .h3d file that gets created.

I see, thank you. I have a laptop which I can run post on, do you know which files are required to view the results (other than the log file)? It will save me some time transferring just the required files across rather than the whole run folder.

    Thanks!

I would transfer the .h3d file(s) you tested with earlier.  There may be multiple .h3d files (one might be mesh, the other solution) so make sure you transfer all .h3d files.

Great idea, thanks for your help!
