I am trying to plot Max Principal Stress from Nastran OP2 result file. For this I am able to plot three Principal Stresses (P1,P2,P3) separately. Is there any way to plot these three principal stress in single plot showing max. and min. stress among three (as in case of Tensor plot)?

Many thanks,

Alok

I am not sure the significance of this result, but you can use the 'Derived Results' button in hv for this.

    Hi,

P1 is the major (max, including sign) principal stress.

P3 is the minor (min, including sign) principal stress.

    Stefan are right, i think...

If you want the extrem stress (maximum of absolute principle stress) then you can do it in HV11 in the following way:

    - open the expression builder (derived results)

    - search and double click the extreme math operator

    - locate the mouse cursor inside the bracked in the first position

    - select element stresses (table)

    - select P1 as component and press insert

    - locate the mouse cursor inside the bracked in the second position

    - select element stresses (table)

    - select P3 as component and press insert

    - select a name for the contour lable (as example: Extrem Principle Stresses)

    Press OK

Go to the contour panel and choose your new contour plot (e.g. Extrem Principle Stresses)

    Regards,
