Mesh at Midsurface techniques ??
hi all...
when it becomes impossible to extracting midsurface using 'Auto Mid-surface' or 'Surface-pair' options for a complicated varying thickness plastic component
, what is the best way to get a mesh at middle of the section ???
i have been extracting lines and creating midlines and meshing with 2D manual mesh, which is laborious process indeed... is there any other option to achieve midsurfaces ????
thanks in advance... /emoticons/default_smile.png' alt=':)' srcset='/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x' width='20' height='20'>

hi
i think hm12 improved midsurface function a lot
so if your component is extremely complex, it's minority so try to create midsurface manually ( make mid line, using ruled, drag,..., or create nodes and nodes and move them
litle by litle...)
have a good job

When mid-surface function of HW can not help, you have to create that manually.

Surface pair means it's manually midsurface?

The surface pair can be found in geom>midsurface>final edit tools>surface pairs. The mid surface is created by manually picking a pair of surfaces. There is also some additional functionality, see the attached image (from HM help):
