Hello,

i am working in the Abaqus user profile and created some surface groups for contact between components of a cylinderhead. Now i want to translate & copy the cylinderhead with all surface groups.

I know how i can copy and translate the mesh  in seperate components. The associated surface groups are also duplicated, but still in the old surface group. How can i seperate the surface also in a new group?

kind regards

Jan Gerlach

    Hello,

Please go to 'Tools' page 'Organize' panel and select the contact as element. Then from the drop-down select 'dest group' and click Move.

Can you please explain the process in details? How to go to 'Tool' page (or what 'Tools' exactly you mean?), because I couldn't find 'Organize' panel in any 'Tools' list? Would you please help me in this?

To clearly explain my problem, I''m modeling a masonry wall in Abaqus which contains so many elements (blocks). And I have to create surface to surface contact between blocks. So, if I do it individually for each two blocks, it will take for ever! Thus, I'm thinking to create a contact between two blocks and duplicate it for all other blocks since it is the contact will be defined (it is a repeated process but with a huge number). Please, help me in this, and thanks in advance.

You can access the Organize panel either by pressing Shift+F11, or choosing the Tools panel (meaning the bullet points on the right side of the lower screen menu) and picking Organize in the leftmost column. Also, why don't you use general contact in Abaqus instead of multiple contact pairs?
