Hybrid meshing Connectivity

Hi to all,

I am having a doubt in hybrid meshing. When hidden line option is used in hybrid meshing, I can see the face elements at the intermediate region (i.e, between tetra mesh and brick mesh).Normally it happens where connectivity is not proper. But I verified manually it shows good connectivity (I tried equivalance option also).

Is it acceptable? But it is not happening when I am using brick mesh alone.

Thanks.

Although you have a proper node-node connectivity, the faces-tool will still find a free face because from a geometrical point of view you have a quad face on one side and two tria faces on the other side.

(On a side note: depending on solver, analysis type and element formulation you may observe in your results a continuous distribution of nodal results but a discobtinuous distribution of elemental results)

    Regards,

Tet elements to hex elements connectivity is a big questionable one.. Its is better to create penta elements as adjacent to the hex elements followed by the tet elements..

To achive this, first create a solids, and then do a hex mesh.. after that the tet mesh the other solid which is attached to the hex meshed solid.. Hypermesh will automatically create a penta elements..image/emoticons/default_smile.png' alt=':)' srcset='/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x' width='20' height='20'>

For Tet-Hex connection, we use pyramid elements.
