Inspire 2022 has now been released, and includes the following new features and enhancements:

Design Explorer

A new ribbon has been added with tools enabling you to explore, understand, and improve your system's designs using methods such as design-of-experiments (DOE) and optimization. By using Design Explorer, you can make better decisions and optimize the performance, reliability, and robustness of your systems.

Using DOE, you can find the Design Variable Sensitivity of design variables and measure trade-offs.

Using Optimization, you can improve the system’s overall performance, stiffness, or stress.

Inspire Parametric Geometry

New parametric geometry features include Pattern, Intersect Surfaces, Slice with Surface, and Pipe.

Pattern

The Pattern tool has been enhanced and now allows you to perform Boolean operations on the results, as well as merge with all or selected parts. In addition, the new Copies to Skip option allows you to select copies to exclude from the pattern. For linear patterns, selecting the Seed Only checkbox will restrict the pattern to the first row and column.

Intersect Surfaces

Intersect Surfaces is a new tool to create shapes by intersecting solids or surfaces and optionally retaining or removing a set of faces. It includes an option to automatically create a manifold solid from intersecting solid or surface parts.

Slice with Surface

The Slice tool has been enhanced, adding the ability to cut a solid with a surface. The tool surface is automatically extended by default to completely cut the target.

Pipe

A new Pipe tool has been added to create piped geometry with standard sections. Simply specify the path for the pipe and define the cross-section type along with the size of the cross-section. There is an option to re-orient the cross-section.

The resulting piped geometry is automatically merged with the original geometry, and includes an option to also perform subtraction, intersection, or create the piped geometry as a new part.

Inspire PolyMesh Edit and Sculpting

New PolyNURBS and PolyMesh features include Fill Hole, Sculpt, and Shell.

Fill Hole

The new Fill Holes tool on the PolyMesh ribbon allows you to fill holes in mesh parts.

Sculpt

The new Sculpt tool on the PolyMesh ribbon allows you to modify the original mesh using one of several brush tools.

Shell

The new Shell tool on the PolyNURBS ribbon allows you to remove the cage face and create thin walls to generate a shelled PolyNURBS part.

Inspire Motion

New Inspire Motion features include State-Dependent Inputs and Proximity measures.

State-Dependent Inputs

Users can now assign inputs to motors and actuators that are dependent on the state of motors, actuators, systems, or measures.

Example input types:

  • Torque vs Speed
  • Force vs Angle
  • Force vs Distance

This provides the ability to model an extended range of application types.

Proximity Measures

Proximity measures monitor minimum distance, coincident, and interfering conditions between parts during motion.

End points are colored according to condition:

  • Blue parts have finite distance
  • Yellow parts are touching
  • Red parts are interfering

Outputs are available for clearance and interference (State). This provides the ability to more easily monitor minimum distances between parts and identify potential interfering conditions.
