Efficient Multidisciplinary Modeling and Simulation of a Washing Machine Motor Duty Cycle – IEEE ECCE Baltimore

This work presents a 2-step systematic modeling process for the electromagnetic and thermal analysis of a washing machine during a full wash cycle. The motor is a single-phase capacitor-run induction motor. Using the combination of a 2D electromagnetic modeling software and a 1D system simulation tool, the designer is able to evaluate the power losses of the motor and the thermal heat rise, at a limited cost in time and resources.
