The Desdemona is a multi-purpose simulator covering not only helicopters, jets and civil planes but also car and ship simulation. A prototype is running in Soesterberg/Netherlands. The development of a new generation DESDEMONA requires absolute high end light weight structures with highest demands on safety and on the other hand efficiency in engineering and production costs. Hence, AMST is applying a simulation driven design approach since many years. The trend in CAE software fusing calculation and design can be adapted by AMST working methods directly. The presentation is intended to give an insight into how numerical simulation methods make our design process more efficient.
