Control Card value on Thermal Analysis

Hi there,

I'm doing a thermal analysis using OptiStruct. I have 32 constrained nodes that require a diferent temperature value. However this value comes from a linear interpolation between the two end nodes (one has a 0ºC temperature and the other 4,5ºC temperature). Is there any way I can use a linear function for the nodes in Card Edit?

    Hello,

Try to use the following way:

    • Create the load on start and end of line (see picture 1)
    • Switch to 'nodes' as target type
    • Switch to 'linear interpolation' for type of load (default is constant value)
    • Select the nodes between start and end for 'nodes' (e.g. by path)
    • Select the start and end load for 'loads'
    • Press create, a linear interpolation is done and loads are created (see picture 2)

    Best Regards,

    Mario

If you are OK without SPCs you can use TEMPERATURE panel to create temperature entries with linear interpolation,

My question is: If I use the temperature instead of the SPC does the solver outputs the same results?

    Thanks for the help!

    Hi @RodrigoFST

Sorry for a late reply, do you mean using temp as load type in same steady-state heat transfer analysis type?

    Yeah, that is my question!

    You'll get different results.

    Thank you
